Our position on Novel Coronavirus

Swim World

Dear SwimWorld Community,

Like many Schools, Colleges, Swim Schools and Community Groups we too have received many enquiries regarding the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus.

The health, safety and wellbeing of each person within the SwimWorld community is our highest priority and the gravitas of the health implications of this virus are not to be dismissed.

We have sought advice from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services as well as the Australian Swim School Association, ASCTA and Swim Australia, as well as local schools on how best to ensure the highest standard of health and safety of all our clients is maintained.

Because we are a private and boutique swim school, we are able to maintain significantly more control over our environment. Our pool is saltwater chlorinated to the optimum level ensuring the hygiene levels are the best they can be. Our staff and reception team know each and every person coming through our door, and we are all working together to diligently ensure everyone is aware of the expectations we are sanctioning throughout this busy period.

Swimworld will action the same measures practiced by schools in Melbourne to do our part diligently of ensuring that our immediate community remains protected. The containment of  such viruses is highly dependent on individual behaviour and therefore I am asking each of you to be honest, aware, proactive,and responsible in abiding by the following;

Within our community there have been a number of families who have travelled or are travelling to China, (including Hong Kong) and potentially the affected areas . Therefore, if you or anyone in your family has travelled to or transited through China (including Hong Kong) or if you or your family have been in contact with anybody who has travelled to or transited through China (including Hong Kong) please refrain from attending swimming lessons for a period of 2 weeks after you have returned to Australia.

If during this period you begin to feel unwell or develop flu-like or cold symptoms, we urge you to seek immediate medical assistance and obtain medical clearance prior to recommencing swimming lessons.

In particular, if you or anyone of your family members have travelled to Wuhan City or surrounding areas, or have been in contact with anybody who has travelled to Wuhan City or surrounding areas we ask that you refrain from attending swimming lessons for a period of 2 weeks after you have returned to Australia. Please seek medical advice particularly if you are feeling unwell and obtain medical clearance from your local General Practitioner.

If you have not travelled to China (including Hong Kong) during the summer holiday break but have travelled elsewhere beyond Australia and are feeling unwell ~ displaying flu-like or cold symptoms such as a fever – sore throat – cough – runny nose – shortness of breath, please do not attend swimming lessons. Seek immediate medical advice and obtain medical clearance before returning to swimming lessons.

We assure you that we will continue to monitor the situation. Your health and wellbeing along with the health and wellbeing of our team and the greater community is our highest priority.

We have implemented a very flexible system for those who are complying with our policy -Makeup classes will be offered for missed classes and each situation will be based on individual circumstances.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact usdirectly, speak to your local General Practitioner or visit the Department of Health website.

Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.

Anna and the Swimworld Team.
